Senior Research Associate
Case Western Reserve University

DEPARTMENT OF BIOCHEMISTRY
CASE WESTERN RESERVE UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF MEDICINE

An opening exists for a Ph.D.-level chemist or biochemist with expertise in the synthesis of polypeptides and at least three years of postdoctoral experience. The scientist will receive an appointment for one year as a Senior Research Associate (SRA) with annual reappointment dependent on satisfactory accomplishments and availability of funds. The SRA will be primarily engaged in studies of insulin analogs to investigate determinants of stability and fibrillation. This research will require skills in peptide purification (HPLC and FPLC); prior experience with insulin would be helpful but is not required. The SRA will conduct hypothesis-driven research regarding mechanisms of fibrillation and may participate in stability testing, transmission electron microscopy, optical spectroscopy (CD and fluorescence) and collaborative NMR spectroscopy. The precise focus and extent of research will depend on the personal interests of the applicant. The successful applicant will have evidence of a creative chemical imagination, initiative, and interpersonal collaborative skills.

A letter of application and CV should be forwarded to the attention of Ms. Juliana Sinclair, Department of Biochemistry, Case Western Reserve University, 10900 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland Ohio 44106, or emailed to juliana.sinclair@case.edu.
