Hello,
I look for an easy method to quantify acid formic in urine by HPLC-UV.
Did some one have an idea?
Thanks

There are many ways to perform this separation. One option is to use an "ion exclusion" column. These are cation exchange columns, using a dilute acid mobile phase. Your detector should be set to 210 nm.

One column example is:
null
Example separation at:
null

You may also be able to use a "polar embedded phase" for this separation. For example,
null

If you are trying to determine very small concentrations in urine, some extraction and concentration may be necessary before analysis.

If you need more information on these ideas, please post another message.

Dr. Analytical:

When I view your post, this is what I see:

null

Would you please post the details so I can investigate?

Thanks,
DK

If you "click" on the word "Null" you will see a link. But I have copied the information again.

Ion Exchange Separation

Aqueous Stable phase such as HydroBond AQ
For examples go to http://www.mac-mod.com

Polar Embedded Phase

(This last column retains acids more than a conventional reversed phase column. The applications shown in this example do not include formic acid, but I believe it might work.
