Research Chemist (Crystallographer)The School of Chemical Sciences (SCS) seeks a full-time (12 month) regular academic professional as Research Chemist (crystallographer) to manage the School’s X-ray facility and materials laboratory. The lab provides a complete structural chemistry service with state-of-the-art hardware and software systems that allow for detailed crystallographic analysis of materials from minerals to macromolecules, but especially small molecules. In addition to performing experiments for School faculty, this position is responsible for maintaining the instruments, providing user support and training, supervising facility staff, assisting in preparation of instrument proposals, and overseeing financial reports. The position reports to the School director.
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Starting date: As soon as possible after closing date.

Requirements Minimum qualifications: PhD in chemistry, biochemistry, physics, or related field, OR bachelor’s or master’s in same with 5+ years experience; effective interpersonal skills.
Desired qualifications: Prior experience in small molecule crystallography; knowledge of SMART, APEX, and, ideally, GADDS (WAXS), and SAXS; hands-on experience guiding users on these instruments.
