Dear Colleagues

On behalf of the European Society of Clinical Virology (ESCV) (http://www.escv.org/) and the Local Organizing committee we would like to invite you to attend the Winter 2009 Meeting of the ESCV which will be held in Amsterdam, from January 7-10, 2009.

Besides providing a platform for all basic and applied aspects of medical virology, the 2009 ESCV Winter Meeting intends to focus on several public health issues, such as the efficacy of HPV vaccination, new developments in the HIV/AIDS research, developments with regard to viral sexually transmitted diseases, including hepatitis B virus and hepatitis C virus. In addition, other public health related areas like respiratory viruses, with special attention for influenza viruses, are within the scope of this meeting. The meeting will provide a European forum not only for established virologists, but also for students and postdocs, who are very welcome to present their research, to obtain the latest info from peers and to stimulate international interactions. The conference has the support of European virology and microbiology organizations, specifically from the Dutch organization, the ?ederlandse Werkgroep voor Klinische Virologie (Dutch Study Group for Clinical Virology).

The Conference will be held at the Auditorium of the VU University, which is close to the city centre of Amsterdam. The meeting site can easily be reached by bus, metro and train, e.g. with a 10 minutes direct train connection to Schiphol airport. The meeting place ensures that delegates and exhibitors will have ample opportunity to meet. In Amsterdam hotels, restaurants, shops and tourist attractions are plentiful, making this city a great place to visit even in the winter time.

The Registration fee will include a Conference dinner. Reduced registration fees for ESCV members will be available.

The scientific program includes plenary sessions, with State-of-the-Art-Lectures, and a poster session (with wine and snacks served) as well as satellite meetings on public health related areas of virology.

Hope to see you in Amsterdam!

Dr. S. Bruisten Prof. B. Lina
Chair of the Winter 2009 Meeting President of the ESCV
