I've just started working on hERG with a focus on its role in cancer. It would be interesting to know who else has a hERG interest and in which general direction their work is aimed.

I am interested in the pharmacological block of hERG by many classes of drugs that underlies acquired LQT2 syndrome.

Specifically I am trying to incorporate unnatural amino acids into the channel when they are expressed in mammalian cell lines like CHO or HEK and I am measuring the block by drugs using patch clamp electrophysiology.

My latest research was presented at the biophysical society meeting in February

I had a look at the meeting abstract. Are you analysing the hERG inhibitors' interactions with hERG with the aim of designing drugs that have their main effect (anti-schizophrenia for risperidone) intact without blocking hERG and risking causing LQT?


Also, I have to give a talk on hERG in 2 weeks and I would like to give the audience (who are medical) some idea as to how hERG functions in excitable and non-excitable cells. I am trawling through the 1086 refs that PubMed throws up which start at 1995 but would be most grateful if you could recommend a few papers / reviews that you think would be useful.
