I would like to get your ideas regarding attaching a camera to a regular light microscope.
In the old lab I had a nikon camera (with film) now I am in a new lab and looking for digital way to capture the images. Any one is using some appartus to capture images from a light microscope?

I heard a rumour that there existed a relatively cheap adaptor that allowed a Nikon Coolpix 995 (and similar Nikon designs with the rotating lens) to be used directly in place of one of the scope's eye pieces.

So we need a Nikon expert to tell us about this adaptor.
Do you know how much the camera costs?

The Nikon 995 must be at least 5 years old by now. They sell for almost nothing on Ebay. As far as the converter goes, I've not managed to find anything about it.

When we bought our last 'scope for the tissue culture lab we went for one of the cheaper Olymus models and I was hoping to get the digital camera and converter at that time, but the price was simply too high compared to consumer DCs available everywhere.

I'm happy with the microscope but am really missing the DC.

In the lab i did my PhD we had a SPOT camera on a Nikon microscope. There are different versions of it, depending on what you need. It worked really great and the software was very easy to work with.
