The Position:
Major Responsibilities:
As a key member of the Protein Biochemistry section of Biotechnology, the successful candidate will be responsible for purification and characterization of recombinant proteins for assay development and structural determination utilizing knowledge of conventional and affinity chromatography methods, gel electrophoresis and general laboratory procedures. As a member of a team involved in the early stages of discovery, the position requires close collaboration with molecular biologists in addition to scientists working in the various disease biology areas within preclinical research.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Biochemistry or related discipline, and an academic background and experience in isolation, purification and characterization of proteins, preferably recombinant proteins. A specialized background in approaches that lead to a molecular/mechanistic understanding of the interactions of ligands/substrates with their receptors/enzymes will be considered to be a definite plus as well as a proven record of accomplishments in team-based research. The candidate must be self-motivated and should possess good communication skills.
