Hi folks,

does anyone of you know a base which is (strong) nucleophilic but on the other hand has a "low" pH ( ~ 7) --> does something like this actually exists ?

thx & greets

imidazole (pKa~6.5) is the closest that I can think of. It is not as strong as an amine, though. Some hindered thiols in a protein may also behave like that.
