For over 20 years the Young Investigator Award (YIA) program has encouraged pre and postdoctoral scientists and clinicians from a variety of disciplines to pursue long-term careers in NF research. In 2008, the Children's Tumor Foundation will fund up to eight postdoctoral YIAs and two pre-doctoral YIAs.

2008 DEADLINES
-PRE-APPLICATION due February 1, 2008 (5PM Eastern). Click HERE to download pre-application.

What Type of Research can a YIA Support?

YIA research may focus on all of the NF1 manifestations, NF2 and Schwannomatosis including translational and clinical research, and basic research.

Who Can Apply?


1.Postdoctoral fellows up to 7 years after receipt of their first doctoral degree who are focused on NF and wish to continue their careers in the NF field.

2. Pre-doctoral students pursuing projects focused on NF.

2008-2010 AWARDEE FUNDING

The YIA provides:

-a two-year salary award commensurate to the applicants level of training (see table)

-an allowance of $5000 over the life of the award to support attendance at research conferences, training courses relevant to NF, and other educational materials.
