Hi all,Two questions:1) Can cells that we grow in a dish be grown in cell suspension?2) Would the physiology of a cell that is grown in suspension be different than the one that is grown on a dish?The second Q is important as i am trying to anderstand whether a characterisation of a membrane channel would be the same for both cases?
Just found this link to few chapters in a book " Bioreactors for tissue engineering.http://books.google.com/books?id=ZJyeUV_6ijQC&pg=PA91&lpg=PA91&dq=cell+in+suspension+attached+cells+physiology&source=web&ots=0-Dte3-mr6&sig=gAcUPGTshAVt-f6LatBf6fkG2IE#PPP1,M1in page 91 they discuss the difference between hepatic cells in suspension and regular dish.They say that the cellular Oxygen uptake rate (OUR) is higher in the cells that are in suspension then those whom are atttached.So I guess that there are even more differences in physiological aspects then just Oxygen consumption.
