Australian Physiological Society and the Australian Society for Biophysics Joint Meeting

Newcastle Australia 2-5th Dec 2007

Link: http://www.biophysics.org.au/

The conference brings together two Australian societies with a common interest in applying physical methods to the study of biological systems and to understanding how humans and animals function in health and disease.

The symposia will be a highlight of this meeting. Leading Australian and international scientists will present their latest advances in the fields of photosynthesis, ion channels and membrane transporters, the function of cardiac, skeletal and smooth muscle and reproduction and foetal development.

The meeting will be held in the convivial atmosphere of the Newcastle City Hall and Newcastle foreshore. Abstracts from both Society members and sponsored non-members are welcome. The program includes the Plenary Lecture by Professor Mike Sanguinetti (University of Utah) and the UK visiting lecture by Professor Mark Dunne (University of Manchester). There will be 14 symposia, each hosting the leading researchers in their fields as well as free communication sessions, poster sessions and trade displays. The program will provide meeting attendees the opportunity to discuss more intimately topics in biophysics and physiology. Both societies will hold their AGMs at City Hall during the conference.
