Scientist / Sr. Scientist - Microbial Pathogenesis
Genentech , South San Francisco, CA, USA

Responsibilities:

We are currently seeking a Scientist/Sr. Scientist in the Department of Microbial Pathogenesis in our south San Francisco headquarters to lead and build research programs in the area of microbial pathogenesis. This program will focus on understanding the molecular mechanisms by which bacterial pathogens invade the human host, understand host-pathogen relationships and drug discovery. This work should contribute critically to the introduction of major clinical therapeutic candidates and lead to high quality publications in top-tier journals.

Requirements:

Ph.D, M.D, or Ph.D/M.D in a related field with experience in bacteriology and/or virology is required. Candidates for Senior Scientist should have an established top reputation in leading a research laboratory in academia or industry, a proven sustained record of outstanding research performance and of major scientific accomplishments, including acquisition of grant support/patent publications, publications in top-tiered journals and the ability to recruit and retain highly talented researchers. Candidates from industry should also have made significant and creative efforts contributing to the advancement of therapeutics.
