ALA Issues Call for Papers for World's Top 100 Laboratory Automation Podium Presentations and Posters

Participants will be eligible for $10,000 ALA Innovation Award Program, Poster Competition and Segway to Success Campaign

CHICAGO - The Association for Laboratory Automation (ALA), a multi-disciplinary, non-profit scientific association spanning diverse industries and technology sectors, is issuing a call for papers for the World's Top 100 Laboratory Automation Podium Presentations and academic posters for its LabAutomation2008 Conference and Exhibition, January 26-30 in Palm Springs, CA.

ALA is encouraging academicians, scientists, engineers, post-doctoral associates, graduate students, and business leaders to present information which accelerates breakthroughs in laboratory technologies, tools, and informatics. The conference theme is "Where Science, Technology and Industry Come Together," and abstract focus areas include the following tracks: Detection and Separation, Micro- and Nanotechnologies, High-Throughput Technologies, Informatics, and New Frontiers for LabAutomation: Agricultural and Food Sciences.

The prestigious annual ALA Innovation Award is a $10,000 cash prize given to the most exceptional podium speaker at the LabAutomation Conference. The award's purpose is to celebrate and reward the most innovative laboratory technologies or highly useful technology advances and applications. Criteria for selecting finalists for the Innovation Award include: clarity of vision, extraordinary technical originality, and seminal integration and automation strategies. Qualifying junior faculty and post-doctoral associates or graduate students who are chosen to present posters at LabAutomation2008 are eligible for ALA's academic poster competition. Cash prizes are awarded for First Place, Second Place, and potentially, Honorable Mention.

In addition, ALA's Segway to Success Campaign was recently launched to encourage individuals to submit a podium presentation or poster abstract for LabAutomation2008 and/or a JALA manuscript by January 25, 2008. One winner of a Segway PT will be randomly selected from all submissions regardless of whether or not they are selected for presentation at LabAutomation2008 or publication in JALA.

All LabAutomation2008 abstracts will be reviewed by ALA's Scientific Committee. The abstract submission deadline is September 10, 2007.
