I need to evaluate the performance of adhesives in our transdermal products with use on sweaty skin. I cannot afford cadaver or other naturally sourced products. What artificial membranes are available for this type of product evaluation that would simulate human epidermis? Thanks!
How about going to your local butcher at acquiring some pig skin? Just make sure it is used within 48h. It is a known method.Alternatively I found this patent (United States Patent 5911165) describing a PVC based membrane system.http://www.patentstorm.us/patents/5911165-fulltext.html
Pig skin in too inconsistant and doesn't really represent human skin very well as far as permeation goes. If the PVC membrane is gas permeable I could attach an isotonic fluid source behind it to produce the required vapor pressure under an occlusive dressing. I will look into this PVC item ASAP. Thank you, your advise is appreciated!K
what makes you believe that PVC membranes are closer to human skin?
