GE3LS (Genomics, Ethics, Environment, Economics, Law, and Society) Team Advisor
Term: 12 months (Maternity leave replacement) with possible 3 month extensions starting September 1, 2007

Scope:
Reporting to the Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) and working closely with the Program Management Office (PMO) and other departments as may be required from time to time.

Key responsibilities include:

* Work with the CSO and PMO to monitor GE3LS in the projects and keep CSO, PMO and management abreast of developments
* Provide expert advice on GE3LS as it pertains to management issues.
* Work with the CSO to ensure representation of Genome BC and BC researchers in Genome Canadas Research Themes process.
* Monitor the integration of GE3LS into Genome BCs new programs.
* Maintain and further develop provincial GE3LS networks, including organizing workshops and information meetings and maintaining an inventory of GE3LS researchers and resources in BC.
* Maintain and further develop national and international GE3LS networks, including participation in the GE3LS-7 group.
* Work with the communications group to provide and review GE3LS content in Genome BC external communications vehicles.

Candidate Description

* Doctoral degree or equivalent experience in social science, humanities or science with a strong focus on policy and law and an interest in the impact on society of basic and applied life sciences research.
* Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, results-oriented, dynamic corporate environment
* Excellent oral and written communications, presentation and team building skills
* Previous experience in educational development such as teaching, curriculum and/or program development
* Experience in GE3LS research community related to genomics, proteomics and/or associated technologies and knowledge of the research funding environment in Canada and internationally would be an advantage
