MOLECULAR & CELLULAR BIOENERGETICS

Link: http://www.grc.org/programs.aspx?year=2007&program=bioenerg

June 17-22, 2007
Proctor Academy
Andover, NH

The Molecular and Cellular Bioenergetics Conference meets annually, with a rotating emphasis on one of three areas: electron transport (respiratory complexes I to IV), ATP synthases-ATPases, and cellular bioenergetics. The 2007 meeting will emphasize electron transport and respiratory complexes I to IV. While the program contains sessions centered on the structure, function and biogenesis of respiratory complexes, it also covers F-ATP syntases/V-ATPases and aspects of cellular bioenergetics, including cancer, aging and mitochondrial therapeutics, in order to convey an integrated view of current molecular and cellular bioenergetics. The traditional interest of the Conference on structure and function of membrane proteins is augmented with sessions covering theoretical considerations and sessions dealing synthetic and analytical approaches to large membrane protein complexes. The Wednesday morning session where selected posters in all areas are presented is an all-time favorite. In addition, a highlight of the 2007 meeting is a session, dealing with most recent findings on "omics, imaging and bio-nano" frontiers pertinent to energy transduction, dedicated to Dr. Britton Chance, a legendary hero of Bioenergetics. Young investigators, postdoctoral fellows and graduate students are especially invited to apply, and all applicants to the Conference are encouraged to submit abstracts and prepare brief oral presentations for poster discussions.
