On 4 January 2007, The National Nanotechnology Coordination Office (NNCO), on behalf of the Nanoscale Science, Engineering and Technology (NSET) Subcommittee of the Committee on Technology, National Science and Technology Council (NSTC), held a public meeting to receive input on research needs related to the environmental, health, and safety aspects of engineered nanoscale materials.

Speakers from industry, academia, non-governmental organizations, and risk assessment consulting organizations spoke on research needs of engineered nanomaterials. Presentations from the meeting will be used by NNI formulate priorities for safety-related research on nanomaterials.
