1. why we mostly use horizontal apparatus for agarose gel electro phoresis?

2. what is the formula to convert hydrous compund into anhydrous compound according to our requirement?

agarose gels are cheap, easy to use, non-toxic and don't require polymerization in the absence of oxygen the way that SDS-PAGE gels do. since there is no need usually to run a pcr product or other DNA on a denaturing gel, it's much more convenient to use the horizontal slab gel.
