Basic Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Pharmacology or a Life Science discipline with 5 years of industrial experience.

Demonstrated expertise in the fields of either drug transporters or the nuclear receptors involved with enzyme induction; complimentary working knowledge and experience in the alternative discipline with a proven ability to rapidly develop the expertise necessary to provide expert oversight in both disciplines.

Working knowledge of molecular biology and experience in directing the work of molecular biologists in cloning, subcloning, transient and stable transfections, and development of cell lines.

Experience in the drug discovery and development process, particularly with respect to how transporters and nuclear receptors affect selection and advancement of drug candidates.

Management of other scientists: setting goals and priorities, coaching and mentoring, scientific and career development.

Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Pharmacology or a Life Science discipline with greater than 8 years of industrial experience in the fields of either drug transporters or the nuclear receptors involved with enzyme induction.
Job Summary:
Principle Scientist responsible for providing scientific management of a diverse staff of 8-10 scientists conducting research and performing assays in the disciplines of drug transporters and nuclear receptors. Responsibilities include:

Provide scientific oversight of cell-based assays conducted in support of drug candidate selection

Planning experimental approaches to address drug discovery and development issues and ensuring the acquisition of high-quality data

Expert consultation and advice to project teams and scientific colleagues on the interpretation of assay results and implications for advancing drug candidates

Acquisition and/or development, implementation, and validation of new cell lines and other tools for expanding capabilities in both transporters and nuclear receptors

Additional opportunities for direct participation in drug discovery teams as an ADME representative also exist, depending on qualifications and interest.
