Scientist--Biochemistry/Enzymology

Sirtris Pharmaceuticals is a pre-IPO drug discovery company focused on generating pharmaceuticals targeting the sirtuins, otherwise known as class III histone deacetylases (HDACs). These enzymes are attractive drug targets for metabolic, neurodegenerative, cancer, and inflammatory diseases.
We seek a highly motivated, resourceful scientist to join our Drug Discovery and Biochemistry team. The successful candidate will be responsible for and conducting enzymology, protein purification, and structure-function studies. The focus of the work will be to discover the mechanism of action of small molecule modulators against several therapeutic targets of interest to Sirtris Pharmaceuticals.
Candidates must have a PhD or BS/MS with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience. A strong enzymology background with protein purification skills is required. Experience in mechanism of action determination, such as ITC, and structure-function relationship is a plus. Industrial experience is highly desired. Excellent communication skills are required as the successful candidate will work in a highly interactive, multidisciplinary project team environment.
