JOB SUMMARY:
Ikonysis has an immediate opening for an outstanding individual with proven ability in molecular biology and molecular genetics. The laboratory will expand the capabilities of its automated microscope to process a number of clinically relevant cytogenetic samples; the laboratory will expand the platforms growing diagnostic molecular biology and FISH components. Responsibilities of the position will include conceptualizing and undertaking research activities related to the development of new products, establishing and monitoring quality-control/quality-assurance activities, implementing new technologies, and troubleshooting problems encountered in the day-to-day activities of the laboratory. The preferred candidate should have at least 2 years of relevant experience at the postdoctoral level in a relevant field. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Molecular Scientist Ikonisys seeks an experienced molecular scientist to aid in developing new platforms for automated processing several types of clinically relevant cytogenetic samples. The scientist will help to support and expand a growing diagnostic cell and molecular biology and FISH assay development, adding to the current array of automated diagnostic capabilities for use on the fully automated fluorescence microscope, the Ikoniscope. Responsibilities of the position will include planning and executing defined research plans leading to the development of clinical diagnostic products, establishing and monitoring quality-control/quality-assurance activities, and implementing new technologies. The preferred candidate should have at least 2 years of experience at the postdoctoral level and, preferably, experience in industry. Salary will be commensurate with experience. Other experience should include a familiarity with microscopic analysis; cell harvesting, karyotyping, FISH and tissue culture. The qualified candidate will possess the ability to work in a fast paced environment and be team oriented. Computer skills desired.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Management: Prior experience should include planning, scheduling, estimation, and monitoring projects. These project management skills should also include the ability to define and delegate tasks and to lead as well as work as part of a project team. This position seeks a person with excellent time management skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Computer skills: Applicant skills should include familiarity with software tools such as Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project. Good record keeping and technical writing skills are also required.
Quality Systems: Familiarity with the fundamental processes of Quality Systems Management are desired and the applicant will be expected to assist producing documentation suitable for FDA review when requested.
Innovation development: Experience with system analysis and design, able to investigate integration and interoperability technologies, research and evaluate new standards and protocols and conduct product evaluation and assessments.
Collaborations/Partnerships: This position requires the incumbent be actively involved in collaborations both within all major groups at Ikonisys including R&D, Biology, Business Development, Operations, and Quality Assurance.
Communication skills: This position requires excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, presentation and analytical skills. Also, the incumbent must be able to work effectively in a team environment.
JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
A Ph.D. in a suitable discipline and relevant experience at the postdoctoral level is required. Relevant industrial experience would be an advantage.
Duties include the planning and undertaking of experiments for the development of diagnostic products.
Quality System: The individual should understand the basic principles of Quality Design and should be willing to learn in great detail how to conduct experiments that meet FDA guidelines.
