Without CLSp(CG) certification, two to four years previous cytogenetic laboratory work experience is required.
Cytogenetics is a highly specialized discipline that studies the morphology of chromosomes and their relationship to disease. Duties include the preparation of biological specimens (human, animal and plants) for cell culture with subsequent microscopic analysis for cytogenetic studies. Cytogenetics involves microscopy, photo microscopy, computer image analysis, karyotyping and report generation.

Dear Dr. Cruikshank
I am currently a PhD candidate at the University of Tokyo, Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Science. I will graduate by September 2008. I have been a Faculty member in the department of Biology at the Zabol University in Iran for 3 years, and also a researcher in the NRCGEB (National Research center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology) and ABRII (Agricultural Biotechnology Research Institute of Iran) before coming to Japan. Working in an academic atmosphere has always been my dream and I prefer it to other unrelated and non researching jobs. I have experience in Biosystematics and Cytogenetics as it was my field of M.Sc. (Biosystematic studies of Brassica spp. in Iran and cytogenetics of Brassica napus cultivars). Phylogenetic tree of Brassica spp. using multivariate statistical analysis on morphological as well as cellular characteristics (such as Meiotic behavior and structural/morphological differences of chromosomes during Mitosis) was my major during M.Sc. I was under supervision of Professor Masoud Sheidai who is the most famous cytogeneticist in Iran. I also had a project of Meiotic behavior of Wheat cultivars of Sistan and Baluchestan province in Iran. In addition, plant functional genomics was one of the main topics in NRCGEB or ABRII (my previous work places), which made me familiar with these area of research too. I shifted my research area to Molecular Virology after being enrolled at the University of Tokyo. I characterized the genome of a new variant of Soil-borne wheat mosaic virus, resistant in infecting plants (Wheat and Barley) at high temperatures. That is the first report on finding single nucleotide mutation in movement protein gene which is responsible for adaptation of virus to a different condition. Eleven years in the area of cytogenetics and 5 years in the area of Molecular virology/biology has made me familiar with these areas of research. All of my interaction with staff and students has been positive and this has allowed me to gain more experience and confidence in an academic atmosphere.
I am herein attaching my resume, towards application for the post of a Cytogenetics scientist, in response to your advertisement on www.scientistsolutions.com, indicating your requirement of a candidate with cytogenetics background or other possible positions in your lab.
I shall be thankful for a line in confirmation indicating suitability of my candidature.
Respectfully Yours, Mohammad reza MANSOURNIA
