JOB SUMMARY:
Responsibilities of the position will include establishing and monitoring quality-control/quality-assurance activities, implementing new technologies, and troubleshooting problems encountered in the day-to-day activities of the laboratory.
Essential Responsibilities:
Aid in developing new platforms for automated processing several types of clinically relevant cytogenetic samples.
Support a growing diagnostic molecular biology and FISH assay development, adding to the current array of automated diagnostic capabilities for use on the fully automated fluorescence microscope, the Ikoniscope.

Project management: ability to define and delegate tasks and to lead as well as work as part of a project team.
participates in maintaining a Quality System through good record keeping and documentation to comply with FDA standards
Investigate integration and interoperability technologies, research and evaluate new standards and protocols and conduct product evaluation and assessments.
Job Knowledge Skills and Abilities
A bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in a scientific discipline, or medical technology or [CLSp(CG)] from an approved agency such as the National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel (NCA) is recommended. Without CLSp(CG) certification, two to four years previous cytogenetic laboratory work experience is required.
Cytogenetics is a highly specialized discipline that studies the morphology of chromosomes and their relationship to disease. Duties include the preparation of biological specimens (human, animal and plants) for cell culture with subsequent microscopic analysis for cytogenetic studies. Cytogenetics involves microscopy, photo microscopy, computer image analysis, karyotyping and report generation.
Quality System: The individual should understand the basic principles of Quality Design and should be willing to learn in great detail how to conduct experiments that meet FDA guidelines.
