I found this protocol that uses trizol:
http://www.stanford.edu/group/sjeffreylab/PDF%20Files/RNA_isolation.pdf

Or try this paper:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=PubMed&list_uids=12401828&dopt=Abstract

And this link on protocol online (But that is me cheating, someone has answered the question for me):
http://www.protocol-online.org/biology-forums/posts/1141.html

Hope that helps!

I have used RNeasy lipid Tissue Mini Kit from QIAGEN to isolate RNA from bone. It works well.
