Hi everyone,

I have one question regarding the mouse spinal cord anatomy. I am supposed to do the surgery in the lumbar part of the spinal cord and I would like to know to which vertebrae it corresponds exactly. Thanks a lot in advance.

Dear daysleeper,
First of all before doing the surgery, study abit the anatomy of the mouse, it will help you alot.
Look at that link.
http://www.informatics.jax.org/cookbook/figures/figure10.shtml
It gives you the skelaton of the mouse. The area that you are interested in is the area between the point in which the rib cage end till the begining of the illium.
There are 5 Lumbar vertebra. Now the big Q. is where do you want to cut?
I am here to answer your Q. Dont hesitate to ask
Guy

Thanks for the answer and tips. That's exactly what I am trying to do before doing the surgery - I am trying to get familiar with the anatomy of the mouse but unfortunately I didn't manage to find anything useful in the net regarding my question.

I know (or at least, I think) how the vertebral column is organised in mouse but, as we know, in humans the level of the spinal cord segments do not relate exactly to the level of the vertebral bodies and I would like to know what is the case in mouse.

Thanks again.
