has anyone ever used RNA extracted from formaldehyde fixed tissue as a template for real-time?

Yes, I've once used Formalin fixed tissue for RNA extraction. It is better to incubate the samples at 65 degrees with 50mM NaCl before going for Trizol mediated extraction. I've tried only RT-PCR but never real-time as u had asked for. But I guess it might work in this case too. Let me know if it works.

thanks for the suggestion...what i'm trying to maybe do is do IHC on one half of a brain and qrt-pcr on the other half. i am thinking that it will be difficult...
