School of Biology

1 Lectureship and 2 RC UK Fellowships

The fellowships are for five years and you will be transferred to permanent academic posts on completion of the awards. The main criteria for all appointments will be an exceptional research record and future potential. Although the emphasis of these appointments is research, there is an expectation that you will make some contribution to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.

Coming from the disciplines of Biology or Physics, you should have research interests at the Biology-Physics interface in any area of molecular and/or cellular biology. Current collaborations between the Schools of Biology and Physics include the use of enhanced spin resonance techniques to determine biomolecular structure, function and interactions (www.st-and.ac.uk/-mmwave) and biophotonics including the controlled neuronal growth and sorting of cells by the use of light and also the production of novel caged compounds (www.st-and.ac.uk/-biophot).

You will be joining a large, vibrant and successful School (RAE rating 5) with a wide research base. Biology also has strong collaborations with all the major Science Schools at St Andrews.

Informal enquiries to Dr Frank Gunn-Moore (fig1@st-and.ac.uk) and Dr W. John Ingledew (wji@st-and.ac.uk).

Salary is subject to confirmation under the new framework agreement
