Application Support Specialist

Job Description:

Qualifications:

B.S. in Biology or Chemistry
2-3 years bench work experience as a biologist or chemist in the Biotech or Pharmaceutical Industry.
2-3 years supporting scientific applications in the Biotech or Pharmaceutical Industry.
Familiar with chemistry/molecular biology processes and tools (e.g. chemical inventory/registration, reagents, LCMS, NMR, ACD, sample management, clone/sequence registration, protein purification, LIMS, knowledge base management)
Familiar with ISIS/Draw, ISIS/Base, ChemDraw, Crossfire Commander, SciFinder, ACD Labs software. Experience with Pipeline Pilot, Spotfire, ActivityBase, call-tracking software, and/or ELN software a plus.
Expert in Microsoft Office.
Familiar with web technology and distributed computing.
Understand concepts of information management (i.e. relation databases).
Understand the drug discovery research and development process.
Familiar with SQL/HTML/VBA.
Fluent in Japanese and English (reading and writing).
Willing to travel to Japan on a regular basis.
Job Responsibilities:

Provide project management for technology transfer to parent company, including help with localization and translation of proprietary scientific applications for use in Japan.
Provide training, support, and troubleshooting for all scientific applications.
Creation and maintenance of application user guides and online tutorials.
Interact with the scientists and software engineers to help with the design of proprietary applications.
Participate in application testing, defect/enhancement tracking and resolution.
Maintain scientific software licenses for purchased software packages.
Assist in maintenance of department website content.
Host training seminars for the scientists on various scientific applications.
Assist with rollout of an electronic lab notebook pilot program.
