Hi everybody,

We are currently looking for an inverted fluorescence microscope and choosing between LEICA DMI4000 B and Zeiss Axiovert 200/apotome.

We shall use it for both adherent and non-adherent cells, thick tissue preparations and conventional slides. Image analysis tools are also needed, we would like to write our own macros: which software is best suited Qwin or Axiovision?

Low-level fluorescence and contrast are important for us.

Do you have any comparative experience? Can anyone help us choosing the best buy?

many thanks in advance for your help,

best regards, pina

Hi Pina,
I worked for a long time with the Zeiss axivert 200. and also currently using the axiovert S 100.
The 200 was great, I worked also with the confocal opption. It has also a very good Image analysis software.
I would take the Zeiss once again with no regret.
Hope it helped

I have used Leica, Zeiss, Nikon, Olympus, and others. They all have their good and bad points. The most disturbing thing about all of them, however, is their really bad optical configurations and digital imaging systems. All of them should be ashamed of themselves for asking the kind of money they do for such mediocre equipment. This is the reason I got in to designing digital imaging and microscopy equipment, plus partnered with others that can build them right.
