2012 Doctoral Positions in the field of Life Sciences, Engineering, Bioinformatics, or Computational Science at The Center for Human Genetics, University of Leuven , Belgium
Study Subject(s):Bioinformatics and Systems Biology of Gene Regulation
Course Level:PhD
Scholarship Provider: University of Leuven
Scholarship can be taken at: Belgium
Eligibility:
We are seeking a highly motivated “next-generation biologist” who wants to be submerged into “integrative genomics”, using high-throughput technologies, genetics, genomics, and bioinformatics. The successful candidate should have a Masters degree in the Life Sciences, Engineering, Bioinformatics, or Computational Science and should have a substantial interest in genome-scale integrative approaches. Candidates should be fluent in English and have already experience with bioinformatics approaches.
Scholarship Open for International Students: No
Scholarship Description: The Center for Human Genetics at the University of Leuven (Belgium) is a vibrant and international research center where key issues relevant to major human health challenges are investigated. Within this Center, a PhD position is available in the Laboratory of Computational Biology (Stein Aerts Lab), in collaboration with the Laboratory for the Molecular Biology of Leukemia (Jan Cools Lab). The aim of this project is to use and develop “integratieve genomics” methods to identify and characterize genomic regulatory elements that control gene expression. You will analyze RNA-Seq, ChIP-Seq, and exome/genome resequencing data in combination with computational predictions of transcription factor binding sites and regulatory regions. You will apply these methods to unravel gene regulatory networks underlying hematopoisesis, and regulatory perturbations underlying leukemia.
