I am trying to set up an Elan 6100 ICPMS and I have lots of questions.  What should the pressure be when the plasma is off?  My pressure is 3.7 X10-6 Torr.  What should the pressure be when the plasma is on?  Mine is 2.2 X10-5 Torr,  On the instrument panel is everything supposed to be green.  The part that looks like the torch is grey and blue.  I am having trouble tuning and the daily optimization looks terrible.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

My vacuum pressure on my Elan 6000 is 8 x 10-7 before lighting the plasma and it is 1.45 x 10-5 after lighting the plasma.  They are all a bit different in the regards of vacuum pressure before ighting the plasma, but they should all run about the same in regards to vacuum pressure while the plasma is lit.  2.2 x 10-5 is a bit higher than I would like to see, but it is still enough to keep the plasma lit.  I would check your samle introduction system for leaks (I.e. loose fittings around the torch, bad neb tip o rings, bad ferrules, etc.).
