 i have extracted total rna using trizol reagent. can i use this total rna as such for analyzing expression of  micrornas or should i purify the microrna fraction from total rna.

which method should i use for mirna purication.

You can check Qiagen's miRNA easy mini kit for puriication of microRNA.
