Goodafternoon,

I´m having some problems with noise while recording single channel currents.

When in patch mode and with the pipette just above the bath I have an RMS noise of about 0.180 pA. Now, when I make the seal on the cell, noise increases to 1.3-1.8 pA RMS. Is this normal, taking into account the noise level of the pipette right above that bath? I think this should be a lot lower, right?

Regarding the pipette: I´m using standard walled (1.5mm OD x 0.86 mm ID) borosillicate glass with sylgard applied to the tip and shaft.

Thank you for your help.

Kind regards,

Jan-Albert Manenschijn
