I have a doubt about a individual optimization. When we use SmartTune for Daily Performance the equation for the oxide ratio is marked in the software. I want to know if is also necessary that this equation is checked for individual metals optimization and what is the benefit of this optimization. I send a file with the SmartTune window . Thanks in advance Cris

This optimization is important (for the elements that can form oxides) This is basically telling you how likely it is for you to have oxide interferences. If this ratio is high, it could indicate an instument problem. Can you be more specific as to values you are getting?

 Hi Riverbrat

Thank you for your replay. I am optimizing the conditions to determinate Zn, As, Fe, Cu and Pb in wine.  I don´t include the equation for oxide when I perform the SmartTune for each element, therefore I want to know if it is necessary for the optimization or not.  For all metals that can form oxides then I must perform the optimization including the equation. Am I right?
Thanks
Cris

Usually only the routine oxide optimization  necessary is the ratio CeO/Ce  (<0.03) for any element you want to analyze. This is important because oxygen can form compounds at the same mass of the element you want to analyze. Obviously this problem is less with increasing atomic mass of analyte.
For example, if you analyze lead the problem of oxides is low but if you analize Cr52 you have an interference of ClOH at the same mass.

The routine oxide optimization means the Daily performance?  I perform it through SmartTune but it is not for individual elements. If I want to optimize the elements with low mass I need to include the equation for oxides in the method?
