Hi all,
I have got bone sample that have a Titanium rod within the diaphysis. Can I see both under SEM?
Will I be able to see differences between the Bone and the metal?

Hi

Yes you can see the metal with SEM or optical polarized light in a very efficient way-no staining required. Try the different polarizers on the optical microscope for a dramatic color deffect. You can also do EDS on that and map Ti thereby confining the extent of metal surfaces. Also, X-ray microtomography is ideal for that purpose-if you find a unit. You can section and rotate the specimen non-destructively and wihotu having to do actual sections.
