Dear all,
I am new in this field and having trouble pouring sturdy gels. My gels always come off the glass plates during washing cycles after SYPRO staining. Someone suggested pressing hard when applying the bind-silane solution. I'd say it helped to some extent. I am so frustrated. Could anyone who's experienced give me your precious advice and tips?
Thanks so much!

Are you using new glass plates? The reason I ask is that some labs treat their gel plates with Rainex or some other chemical for easy gel removal. If you are using plates that have been treated this may be causing your problem.

Thank you guys for replying. Actually I don't know if they are new or not. A few of the plates are broken at a corner, still usable though. Neither have I heard of the Rainex thing from my director. I will ask him to figure out. Thanks again.

It seems to me like your best bet is to buy a new pair of glass plates. Using plates with chips and an uncertain history is just asking for trouble. A new pair of plates should be relatively cheap considering the time you are investing in this.
