Here is a resource for information on all AIDS related clinical trials. http://aidsinfo.nih.gov/clinical_trials/

I know a company called VIRxSYS has had some good (very early) results.

As far as I know there is a group working in Africa with some people that are imune to AIDS, they discover that a mutation in a certain gene is related to the imunity.

I was at a Gene Therapy Conference last year and there was a guy there from the Rossi Lab (City of Hope, somewhere in California). They were just starting a clinical trial using lentivitus vectors to deliver microRNA expression cassettes to CD34 positive stem cells (from the bone marrow). Daughter blood cells from these progenitors would express the microRNA which specifically targets multiple HIV target RNA structures (I forget which exactly, but for example the Tat response element as well as one or more of the translated mRNAs) to help reduce any escape mutants that would otherwise arise.
It looked very promising indeed.

Can you remember his name? I'm also working on HIV gene theraphy, but I newly started. I'm also working on tat gene. I'm not at the level of lentiviral vector designing, but after cloning I will start. It can be very helpful for me to talk with them.

I'm currently working on CNV and its connection with HIV expression.

I just pulled this out of PubMed: Lentiviral-mediated delivery of siRNAs for antiviral therapy. Gene Ther. 2006 Mar;13(6):553-8. Review. Weinberg MS, Villeneuve LM, Ehsani A, Amarzguioui M, Aagaard L, Chen ZX, Riggs AD, Rossi JJ, Morris KV. The post-doc who gave the presentation (ESGT 2006 Athens) was Dr. Aagaard. His talk was specifically on the design of microRNAs that target multiple viral (HIV) targets. The Rossi lab is probably the world leader in anti-viral RNAi applications.
