I ran across Health Reseach Inc.'s Technology Transfer website and thought that maybe somone would be interested in some of these opportunities. For the full list go to:

Technology Opportunity
Invention Available for Licensing and Commercialization

A method for the real-time quantification of microRNAs (miRNAs) employing universal reverse transcription (RT).

Description

A new method has been developed which allows the real-time quantification of miRNAs and their predicted target transcripts. The method utilizes a universal RT-primer followed by reverse transcription, and then a transcript-specific strategy in the PCR. Parallel amplification of a miRNA and internal reference or target transcript is possible. The method is straightforward, needs no RNA size fractionation and involves routine enzymatic manipulations.

Potential Market Applications

Confirmation of computer predictions of 100s of miRNAs.

Quantitative analysis of the expression of miRNAs and their predicted mRNA targets.

Main Advantages of Invention

Universal reverse transcription of miRNA and mRNA allows for examination of both miRNAs and predicted target(s) from the same sample.

State of Development

Fully operational for a number of cancer related miRNAs and target mRNAs.

Potential Areas of Application

Investigation of the expression of individual miRNAs and mRNA targets.

Licensing Potential

Ordway/HRI seeks commercial partners to develop the technology for clinical and commercial use. Available for licensing.
