Translational Research Lecture Course
Translating life science discoveries into clinical practice:
Research techniques, technologies & tools

http://www.gennexttech.com/

April 4-8, 2006
San Francisco, California
The Westin, San Francisco Airport

GenNext Technologies is pleased to invite you to attend the essential Translational Research Course where you will learn how to apply basic life science research techniques to the clinical research environment.
This Translational Research Course will begin with a module on designing effective translational research studies. You'll learn how study design and experimental protocol influence conclusions derived, understand biomarker discovery approaches, and learn effective means to move from research to the clinic and visa versa. Then we will explore scientific breakthroughs and associated methodologies in clinical genomics and proteomics research, along with enabling tools from CGH microarrays to FTICR MS. We'll conclude with statistical principles, data analysis techniques, and powerful bioinformatics software for clinical data.

Throughout the course, we'll discuss the latest research tools and key suppliers so you can choose the right platform for your research.

Our distinguished faculty for this Translational Research Course is comprised of professors, directors of institutes, managers of shared resource labs, computational biologists, principal investigators, and leading executives from the University of Georgia, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, GenNext, and other technology provider companies.

Beneficial to both life science researchers and product/service providers to the industry, students who attend this course will learn about:

* Designing Translational Research Studies
* Genomics Methodologies, Technologies & Products
* Intro to Proteomics & Protein Purification
* Proteomics Approaches & Mass Spec Primer
* Top-Down Proteomics Approaches
* Bottom-Up Proteomics Approaches
* Protein Identification & Characterization
* Bioinformatics for Clinical Genomics & Proteomics

After you leave this class, you can take advantage of the connections you've established with other life science researchers and industry executives to help advance the field of translational medicine.

Upcoming Lecture/Lab Course
GenNext will be hosting a 12-day intensive lecture and laboratory program at the University of Georgia in Athens on August 7-18, 2006.

Students can attend the five-day Translational Research Lecture Course and then elect to continue on with the companion seven-day wet-lab course. This Translational Research Lab Course, led by experienced practitioners, will give students first-hand experience with the latest genomics microarray, mass spec-based top-down proteomics, gel-based top-down proteomics, and bottom-up proteomics techniques and technology platforms.

Along with a review of the ethical conduct of research, the lecture program will also involve extensive discussions of the components and design of effective clinical studies with particular emphasis placed upon bi-directional exchange of information and ideas between basic research and the clinic.

Act now to tentatively save your seat for the upcoming 12-day intensive lab and lecture course to be held at the University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education in Athens on August 7-18, 2006.
