I would like to find some information regarding platinum-based drugs and their interaction with the DNA of cancer cell. Any book or reviews that can be recommended?

A platinum based drug was developed 15 years ago and used to treat colon cancer. Satraplatin, cisplatin, carboplatin are among the most active chemotherapeutic agents available.

There is a book called: platinum based drugs inn cancer therapy by Lloyd R. Kelland and Nicholas Farrell publisher Humana press. www.humanapress.com

try search in PubMed. Here is what I found about 15 articles

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?CMD=search&DB=PubMed

if the address does not work you can search by yourself at the site.

Just a note of interest I am aware of gene research being conducted which shows that every type of cancer requires a specific drug so currently the race is on to map all types of cancers so that drugs can be tailored to each cancer thus making cancer treatment 100% effective. This is why cancer drugs work on some people but not all. It's a bit like the doctor saying you have influenza...ok but which strain?! The research from memory was being done in Norway but I cant remember who's doing it.
