Job Description
Amyris is seeking an energetic and vibrant analytical group leader to oversee our development, operations, and quality control groups. The group leader will be responsible for: (1) proactive collaboration across the organization to ensure high quality and relevant assays are developed, (2) ensuring high quality data and rapid turn-around time from routine assays is generated, and (3) efficient and thorough method transfer between manufacturing and R&D sites.
The successful candidate will have significant leadership experience and excellent cross-functional communication skills in interfacing with multiple disciplines such as: molecular biology, fermentation, purification, chemistry, and down-stream processing groups.
In addition, experience interfacing with external collaborators for method transfer to support manufacturing and scale-up activities is required.
Bring-in new cutting edge technology and continuously develop methods to increase information content and decrease sample analysis time
- Direct the analytical development group to develop high-quality assays to forward company research goals
- Oversee the analytical operations group to ensure high method performance and rapid turn-around of samples
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure a high degree of engagement and alignment between groups
- Negotiate with stakeholders to determine the best use of analytical resources to further company goals
- Work with process development teams to establish in-process controls and product specifications
- Keep abreast of current scientific literature
- Present work at internal and external meetings
Desired Skills & Experience
Requirements
Ph.D. degree in analytical chemistry or related discipline with 7+ years experience
5+ years management experience is required
Strong leadership skills and experience managing through others to accomplish goals is required
Excellent cross-functional communication and interpersonal skills are required
Energetic, highly self-motivated and able to work efficiently and productively in a rapidly-growing company
Proficiency in writing and oral presentations
