Ok, I'm a new to GPCRs, but will be trying to overexpress a few. Given the huge amount of membrane contect that these proteins have, it would seem near impossible to overexpress them in any cell line or expression vector. yet people are able to to it to some degree.
Can anyone tell me how GPCR expression differs from that of receptor kinases expression, which usually require cloning the cytoplasmic domain for baculovirus expression in insect cells. It's near impossible to overexpress a receptor kinase in full ORF, so how can this work with GPCRs??

GPCR can be expressed in mammalian cells at least internally. The accuracy of the surface expression will depend on the group of the GPCR you are trying to express. There are over 50 different messages, regarding GPCR expression, posted by scientists on the board of Scientist Solutions.

Go to the homepage click on the search botton on the top right and type in GPCR and enter. You can read all the opinions and experiences related to the GPCR expression. Hopefully you will get some idea.
