Would the moderators etc consider putting a 'chat' forum on the site? I don't mean random chat, but a place to post questions that are less methods/reagent/equipment based. For example, the benefits of doing a phd/md/masters, the differences of working in academia vs industry, how easy is it to switch from academia to industry (and at what stage in your career is it considered too late), conversational support for those writing a thesis on no pay and with seemingly no end in sight etc etc

Any thoughts?

Labrat,

The questions you mentioned are excellent and completely appropriate for the General Section (under miscellaneous). Marcia
