Hello Fellow Frogs,

I am so happy I found Scientist Solutions, as it is one of the most high quality discussion forums I have ever used. The questions are intelligent and the answers are thoughtful and pertinent. I applaud you all.

I love to browse all the forums (sometimes everyday!), and was recently wondering if there is an easier way to quickly identify all the most recent activity on the board. I made some suggestions to the moderators, and they in turn suggested I put it to the users for a vote.

So, how do y'all like to browse? How often do you visit? Are the "today" and "yesterday" indicators useful to you if you only visit once a week? Do you click through all of the sub-forums to see if there are new posts, or do you rely on the "most recent post" shortcut? Do you sometimes miss replies when there is more than one post in a given forum in a single day? Do you use the subscribe option for all of your interests, and do you find yourself browsing forums you have not subscribed to because you saw an interesting topic?

I'd love to hear some feedback on "how" other members use the site so I can make some useful suggestions to the management to make this site even better! Thanks for your input.

I like the current method.

I log in daily and check down the home page for fresh posts. I read the newest ones, and if I can try to answer them to the best of my abilities given my background in that field and the time i have to write a descent post. I then go to my areas of special interest e.g. Neuroscience, Mol Biology to see what else is out there.

Maybe a slight modification to the most recent post on the home page format would be to have the most recent post in each sub forum listed as it it now, but have an additional link below that that says X other new posts that will then open those in a new page in chronological order?

I have just been initiated into the wonders of RSS feeds. Now, I get notification of all the most recent Scientist Solutions posts right on My Yahoo home page. It is so cool! Instead of browsing the board looking for new posts, I have a tidy list of the ten most recent topics which I can then click directly to and read the posts. It was so easy.

If you use My Yahoo, or have a personalized Google page, check your help files for information about RSS feeds or XML feeds to find out how to add this content to your page. You can find the code at: http://www.scientistsolutions.com/index.xml Just follow the directions, and the most recent posts show up just like news headlines or stock quotes! Note: this will give you all the most recent posts - If you are only interested in a couple of specific forums, click on the orange XML button near the bottom of your forum of interest to access the code for that particular topic.

If you use Firefox, it's even easier! Just add a "live book mark" from the forum you wish to follow and the most recent posts come up in a list under your bookmark menu. Then you can quick jump to the ones you haven't read yet. Again, check your Firefox help files for more information.
