What about Gene Therapy as a forum subject. Maybe even two: Viral and non-viral?
Parvoman, We currently have a Gene Therapy forum in Genetics and we recently added it to Bioethics. We could break it down further though into viral and nonviral vectors within Genetics. However, we also have a viral design/constructs forum in Virology and a plasmid forum in Molecular Biology. We realize that overlap is unavoidable on the Board so to assist in finding forums and posts of interest please try out our search engine.thanks for your suggestions and participation,David
I don't think the gene therapy forum should be hidden within the Virology section because I would guess that at least a third of all investigators will be using non-viral methods. Also, although I've worked with vectors based on retroviruses, adenovirus and parvoviruses for almost 15 years, I would not describe myself as a virologist. It shouldn't be in the Bioethics section either, because unlike stem cell therapy, gene therapy has been around for about 20 years. People who want to discuss details of particular vector types and packaging cells etc. don't want to plough through ethical arguements about stem cell technologies. I've put a Gene Therapy poll within the Virology forum but I'd be surprised if many people find it.Late addition: I'm not sure I would look for gene therapy under Genetics either - I'm certainly not a geneticist (those guys are far smarter!)
