YOU HAVE A STOCK SOLUTION OF A BIOLOGICAL T CELL STIMULATOR CALLED PMA. THE STOCK SOLUTION IS 500 ug/ml AND YOU WANT TO OBTAIN A FINAL CONCENTRATION OF 1 uM.  WHAT VOLUME OF THE STOCK SOLUTION DO YOU NEED TO MAKE 10 ML OF THE 1uM SOLUTION.  WHAT IS THE MOLAR MASS OF PMA

Hi sygillespye,
answere to your last part of qyerry is if by PMA you are refering Phorbol-12-myristate-13-acetate (PMA)
then the mol mass of PMA , ( C36H56O8 ) is 616.8

and answere to your dilution part is .............

10 microliters of 500 ug/ml PMA  + 9.99 milliters of diluent   =  10 ML OF THE 1uM SOLUTION of PMA

for your reference you can cross check by visiting to the link below www.restrictionmapper.org/dilutioncalc9.html

impossible! let's do it................

Sorry, I may have this wrong but if you make a 10ul in 9.99ml dilution of a 500ug/ml solution then that is a 1 in 1000 dilution so you would have a 500ng/ml solution.

You need 616.8mg/ml for 1M or 616.8ug/ml for 1mM

500ug/ml stock = 811uM

To get 1uM = 1ul in 810 ul or 10ul in 8.10 ml or 12.34 ul in 9.99ml

Is this right?
