Just trying to start some topics. What is your preferred platform and/or programming language? Unix is standard but any development in windows environment?

Joaquin, Scott,

Unix is the preferred OS platform for science applications, however both Linux and Windows are gaining maturity and momentum for very large and sophisticated applications. Particulary 3-tiered architecture where both OS's can be very powerful in the middle-tier serving up apps, forms and ancillary apps.
