US Scientists. Back $10 Billion for NIH in Economic Recovery - Contact Your Senators Immediately

Take action now to support $10 billion for the National Institutes of Health in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Senator Arlen Specter will introduce an amendment tomorrow when the Appropriations Committee considers the bill. The current version includes $3.5 billion for NIH, and the amendment would add $6.5 billion
bringing the total to $10 billion.

Contact your senators immediately and urge them to be a champion for NIH. Go to:

I just sent a letter. This is very easy to do. Just follow the link. There is a prewritten letter there. I also sent this to six scientists that I know. We must not remain silent in our labs. Omai

I sent one to NC senators. You also have the options to send an email to your friends and colleagues to support the bill.

Here's how I personalized mine:

What's more important: spa vacations, obscene bonuses and private corporate jets for bankers or a cure for cancer? As one of your Madison, Wisconsin constituents, I urge you to support including $10 billion for the National Institutes of Health in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Please vote for the amendment being offered by Senator Arlen Specter that would increase the amount allocated for the NIH.
