So,
The morning started with a free cup of coffee from a company which I would not say its name :-)
Then to a Histology Lab which was dealing with the Urinary System. I hope that you all remember the Nephron the glumerolus and Bawmans capsule.
Proceeding with reading articles. In the middle of one of the articles dealing with a " Comparison of continuous vs. pulsed focused ultrasound in treated muscle tissue as evaluated by magnetic resonance imaging, histological analysis and microarray analysis" I am thinking to myself how am I contributing to a greener earth.
Then it came to my mind ,,,,,
Years ago when doing my MSc and even PhD the use of the Internet was not so widely used. We used to go to the library photocopy and article and read it. At the end of my PhD I had maybe 200 articles. OOPS
Nowadays we have the WWW, we have pubmed and we have the ability to download article. So here is my contribution to a Big Green Marble (do you remember the big blue marble??). I am rarely use printed articles I am reading it directly from the screen. This is my way.
So, if each of us the scientists will read directly from the screen, think how many trees we would save from being cut.
Happy Earth Day 2009

I recycled two dead laptop PCs, a dead cell phone and a load of batteries with an E-waste company today. That's my green deed for the day!
So, Guy, Please explain what is a big blue marble. Sorry if I am naive. And FFM, what does that stand for please?
You tell me what it means...:P We are all entitled to our alter egos!
When I was young, couple of decades ago I guess around the 1980's there was a TV series about children from countries all around the world. What was their life like etc. They had a big pen pall correspondence idea to connect children from all around the globe. I had couple of pen palls from South Africa, Finland, India. This is one of the ways we learned to read and write English. Any way, the name of this series was the Big Blue Marble (Earth as one can see it from the space as a big blue marble). What a surprise, the wounders of the internet:www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1kkx2m-JSg
As a college student, I must say my power is limited ,but I'd try my best to act my green deed for the day
