Extinction and New Species

Hey SSI community,
I just came across this very interesting article about finding new species. It details the large number of new species we discover compared to the large number being destroyed through human interventiopn in the ecosphere. Its an interesting distinction, because the number of species being destroyed can only be guessed at. Since we have only "discovered" a small portion of the Earth's biodiversity, its hard to get an actual count as to the number of species living and dying. Hopefully we can use the discovery of new species as a reason for saving the rain forrest. Here is a graph from the article.
